Bay Billy

F. H. Gassaway’s poem of the same name tells the story of Bay Billy. The 22nd Maine at the Battle of Fredericksburg loses their Colonel; when ordered to charge, they hesitate until the colonel’s horse, riderless, takes point and leads them up the hill.
