Comanche
Legend says Comanche was the only U.S. Army survivor of Custer’s Last Stand. He was found, wounded but alive, by reinforcements who arrived after the battle. The Army retired him to mascot status, and he made public appearances at parades and events. The Army ordered that no one should ride him again. After his death, he was stuffed and put on display at the museum of natural history at the University of Kansas.
