George Gordon Byron

Lord Byron was born in 1788 and inherited his estate and title at the age of 10, when his great uncle died. His life was marked by early debt and a series of affairs. He lived the later part of his life in Europe, gaining especial renown and respect in Greece. He was one of the leading poets of the Romantic period, and extremely prolific, but was refused burial at Westminster Abbey due to his scandalous life.
